Ok, my dvd of Fallen Arches with Carmine arrived yesterday. So, I went watching it when I got back from the store.

The acting of both Carmine and the dude who plays his brother in this movie was outstanding. I loved how they got along and his older brother protecting him, and trying to get him to college and get away.

Unfortantly the plot was stupid tho. They stole 56 pair of shoes from this old gangster called Nicky Kaplan and he does anything to find his shoes back.

Unfortantly I also ended up falling asleep during the movie as the plot was stupid. I should just have forwarded the movie to all the scenes Carmine was in, as I bought it for his outstanding acting in this.

I don't need to hear a old gangster going on about his stolen shoes. Laughing

The opening scene of this movie pretty much tells you what to expect from it. Justin Louis and Carmine playing brothers, Duke & Frankie, having a heated conversation regarding those stolen shoes. The acting in this scene sets the tone for the caliber of acting you’re going to see in the movie. I’m not a fan of Carmine(or anyone for that matter) getting struck so much, when you think about what he’s being confronted about, how stupid it is and the dynamic of the brothers relationship, you can see how it would come to that. The plot wasn’t my favorite either, but if you’re a fan of great acting, it’s a good movie to watch.

What’s a kick to me is watching baby-faced, mid 20‘s Carmine… His acting was awesome even then. The scene he has with Justin Louis at the apartment, when he lays out his feelings about Duke’s affair with his girlfriend. Carmine has this ability to make you feel each character’s emotions. From the way he delivers his lines to just wearing the emotions on his face… Those are the marks of an exceptional actor and I love this movie, just for that, because the plot leaves a lot to be desired.

Woo Hoo. Finally a thread about the movie. I've been dying to start one since I got my DVD in the post last week, but wanted to wait till Rella got her copy so I didn't spoil it.

Y'know I think this movie would fit nicely into the 'Slackers' catagory alongside many of Kevin Smith's movies such as Mallrats and Clerks. However, while I thought that perhaps a better at times, the storyline could have been more developed, I couldn't entirely fault this movie. It's a slick modern film-noir that wants to be a black comedy.

The entire movie reminds me of a scene in Lynch's Mulholland Drive where the guy who's out to do a hit accidentally shoots a women thorugh the wall in another apartment and then kills her to shut her up and takes out a cleaner too.

Carmine and Justin Louis play their parts brilliantly and the stormy love hate relationship between the two brothers is believable and often moving - particularly the part when we discover that Duke has betrayed Frankie in the worst possible way.

While I also agree that perhaps it's a bit of a stupid reason for two brothers to go at it (as if anyone's brothers would fight over a shed load of six-toed custom made shows), this the overall point of the opening scene. Big brother knocking some sense into the irresponsible little brother.

I enjoyed this movie, but then I do like independent movies and thought that not only did Rob Consentino do an excellent job directing the movie, he also did a great job writing what the thing.

I agree with Leta, Carmine was a great actor way back when nine years ago and he certainly made me feel for Frankie throughout the movie.
