I was just thinking of another movie that I’d like to see Carmine do. It would actually be a remake of a movie that Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt did a few years back called Heartbreakers. It’s a comedy about a mother and daughter who are con artists. The mother marries wealthy men. The daughter then comes along and seduces the man. Her mother walks in on then together, storms out of the room, files for divorce and takes their property and money.

In my version, Carmine would play the role of Jennifer Love Hewitt…. Well, it would be a father/son team, but you get the idea. I figure, they’d get an actor who can play a womanizer and be funny with it… My picks would be either Joe Pantoliano, from the Sopranos, the Matrix and a whole hell of a lot more movies or Chazz Palminteri from two of my most favorite movies ever, the Usual Suspects and A Bronx Tale. Both of these actors could pull off the conniving father character very well.

I can just see them marrying these wealthy women and then calling in Carmine to come work around the house, shirtless and sweating, to cause a stir with the wives. He’ll seduce the women and let his father catch them to divorce the wife and take her money and etc. This would make for a great movie for me because it think Carmine working with Joe Pantoliano would be funnier than all hell.

I've been thinking about this topic near enough everytime I've watched a movie over the past week or so and everytime I hit a brick wall. That was until last night when I was watching Danielle Steel's Mixed Blessings. If there was ever a remake of this movie, based on Steel's best selling novel, was made, I could totally picture Carmine in the role previously done by Scott Baio. If you haven't read the book or even seen the made for television movie, I would recommend it.

While the orginal movie pulls at you heart strings with the three interwoven tales of three couples on the verge of starting families. But as much as I love Scott Baio in the role of Charlie, I believe that with the passion Carmine puts into his roles, that he would knock the socks off a fresh new audience.

For those of you who haven't seen the movie or read the book, Charlie is one of the main characters who after marrying his sweetheart Barbie, wants nothing more to start a family with his wife - he grew up in an orphanage. Only she wants an acting career and tries to put him off. He later discovers that he's infertile and when his wife tells him she's preggers (the result of a one night stand) he kicks her out. Throughout this, he still longs for a family and eventually meets Beth and their union means that he gets the chance to adopt a little boy with his new-wife to be.

Orginally made in 95, there is much room for improvement and I would recast Alexandra Paul's character of Beth and would probably opt for Maggie Gyllenhaal to play her instead as I think she is a fantastic actress. I'd have Melissa Gilbert (of Little House fame) play Pilar and I'd have Tim Matheson has her husband Brad (they've worked together before and have a great onscreen chemistry). Finally to complete the cast I'd have Kellie Martin (former ER doctor Lucy Knight) as Diana and Henry Thomas (that annoying kid from ET - but an all grown up hottie) as Andy, her husband.

That's a great plot, Lozza. I remember this coming on back when I was in college, all those years ago, and we gathered around to watch it. I always thought it was nice to see Gabrielle Carteris in something that was more suited for her age, considering she's only 2 years younger than my mom... Laughing

This is one of those films that could be remade with a better cast because I remember them having a few people who were just 'okay' in their roles. Plus, even though I hadn't read the book, one of my dorm mates had and she said that the book was better than the movie. I thought that was always to case anyway. Smile

Recasting the movie with stronger actors could make this movie better and seeing as how it was released in 1995, they could update the fertility stuff. I find it interesting and surrounded by a great cast, Carmine could definately get nominated for that Emmy we so desperately want him to have. He could shine here.

Oh I totally agree. I remember watching this the first time around because I was a huge fan of 90210 growing up and was pretty much hooked on all the actors who ended up doing made for tv stuff. I've only recently become hooked on Steel's books, but as you say with a great cast to surround Carmine he could easily get an Emmy. Smile

On the same token, there are several others that I could Carmine appearing if they were ever re-made with a new cast. Even though it's a long time since I saw the movie version with Jennie Garth, so going from the novel, I would love him to appear in Star as the dashingly handsome Spencer Hill. There's a lot of emotional angst for the character which we know Carmine is great at portraying. Y'know, I might actually dig the book about again and refresh my memory.

As you say with Mixed Blessings, there's a lot that could be updated and since Danielle Steel's books are set over a number of decades, there could be a great, whatchmacallit - oh hell, well it could be up there with some of the best romantic dramas of our time.

I know… I haven’t posted in this topic for a while…

I have a new role for Carmine: a bank robber. It’s kind of inspired by my waking up too early in the morning and watching a tv show named “Masterminds”. Basically, it tells the story of how thieves plan and execute some of the world’s most sophisticated heists and make millions.

Carmine could definitely play a bank robber here, but I don’t exactly see him playing the leader of the gang. I see him more as the explosives/safe cracking guy/security camera hacking guy. You know, that guy who was in the military for a while and learned all this stuff, but was ‘under the radar’ psychotic? I see him scaling the side of a building, repelling to a getaway car and blowing up stuff. That would be a fun thrill ride for me.

I swear, I just get this vision of Carmine in night vision goggles and it tickles me pink. He can even smoke, get beat up and shot to death, like he does in 90% of his movies. Laughing

*nod in agreement* Oooo good one. Maybe he could have been a Navy Seal and can kill someone using only his thumb and his training to help his getaway.

Or if that's too intense for such an audience, we could keep him as a robber - but have him in the role formerly portrayed by Bruce Willis - Hudson Hawk. He would get to wear the night vision goggles as well as a nice little harness to drop him into the place where the heist was going down and we get to have him sing a ditty as well as get the girl.

That's almost exactly what I was thinking... 'cept Hudson Hawk tanked. Laughing But I would really like to see him play this type of character. Or, if not a catburglar who prowls, then definately one who comes in with a big gun. Smile Give him a persona like an upstanding citizen, honored and decorated serviceman by day, criminal by night. Shocked

I think my thinking is also inspired by the Robin Thicke song, 'Oh Shooter'. It's essentially the song 'Shooter', without the rapping. This song tells the story of a bank robbery and is very descriptive. My imagination has me seeing Carmine jumping up on the counter and with finesse and charm, smiling at her with those teeth, pointing a gun at her and politely asking for the cash. Cool

Damn you, Robin Thicke! Razz

Y'know for some reason I always keep skipping that song when I listen to A Beautiful World. I dunno why, but me thinks I'll have to have a listen.

However, the image of Carmine effortlessly sliding over the counter and smiling would probably be enough of a reason for half the banks in the world to go out of buisness.

I guess it's a bit late to answer this thread but I find it really interesting. I think that Carmine would be perfect for a picture based on the novel "Angels in the Goom" of Anne Perry (playing Joseph Reavley), this is the synopsis:

In March 1916 in the icy mud that separated the trenches, several British soldiers raided the nearby German forces; two failed to return with one dead, but the other Tucky Nann apparently is alive. Protestant chaplain Captain Joseph Reavley finds the badly injured Tucky andmoves him to bring him safely to his side. However, before he can make it, a shell exploded nearby sending Joseph into severe pain and immediately thereafter unconsciousness.

He awakens with a horrendous headache and other pain as Surgeon Cavan explains he has a broken arm, a badly injured leg and lost plenty of blood. He is sent to his Cambridgeshire hometown for surgery and recuperation. However, rest is not what Joseph will find as he soon becomes embroiled in trying to stop the diabolically clever plot of the Peacemaker to forge an Anglo-German Empire that would dominate the world for centuries.

ANGELS IN THE GLOOM is a fabulous historical thriller that is at its best on the not so quiet Western Front as readers taste the horrific conditions that the soldiers faced during the trench warfare. When the tale returns to idyllic Cambridgeshire and the London nightlife, it remains quite intriguing with the comparison between those at home enjoying nightclubs and those at the front or like dedicated Joseph recovering from war injuries. As the story line twists into a murder mystery with a conspiratorial twist, the plot remains exciting and action- packed but loses some of its grittiness

What do you think?
