Someone posted Carmine's contribution on YouTube. I think it was beautifully done and it's great that Carmine took the time to give some insight about his familes' journey to the States-- both maternal and paternal. Very nicely done.

I said it on another board, but it bears repeating: I think Carmine's to be admired and respected for utilizing his "celebrity" to speak up for a worthwhile cause. I'm sure a lot of other entertainers couldn't be bothered. When you look at the actors who did participate, you could tell they really wanted to be there doing their part for the cause.

And that's exactly what I mean... Well, when I'm not distracted by how spiffy he looks in that suit. Wink

You have to respect a man who is proud of where he comes from. How many celebrities would have changed their name from 'Giovinazzo', just because an agent said that it wouldn't be a household name? That's the tip of the iceberg of things people will deny or withhold for celebrity. I just adore him and his Mom for sharing the story for a worthy cause. Being African-American, few of us can trace back to what happened before our ancestors were sold or even after that, but I've always been fascinated with American immigration thus forming the great 'Melting Pot'. Smile

You know, I'm from Jersey, so we own part of Ellis Island too. That leads me to wonder just how much both New York and New Jersey are doing to save/renovate/restore/refurbish it... Confused I haven't researched it much, but this organization is supported with so many people with such great stories to tell...
