I love football and I've always been one for the underdog. I've been rooting for for the Giants all season and I'm from Ohio. We have 2 pro teams, the Browns and the Bengals. Eli has had a tough one this year but finally started to pull it together mid year. By the playoffs the team really seemed to gel and then when they made it into the Wildcard playoffs, they were unstoppable.

Now here I am watching Superbowl 42 and the Giants. It's the 4th quarter and the Giants are down with 2:30 to go. A hard push down the field and then it's Eli to Plexico with less than 45 seconds. How much more beautiful can it be. Now all we have to do is hold them for 25 seconds. My heart is in my throat. This team that no one thought had a chance is now 19 seconds from winning it all. They just sacked Brady for the I don't know how many times tonight. Twisted Evil It's all over except for the kneel down for Eli. Very Happy
The Giants win by 3 points!!!!

Great game!!! I don't know if Carmine is a Giants Fan, although being being from New York, I would think he is. I hope he had the chance to watch the game and he is as pumped as I am. It was a hard fought game and won at the last minute. Nobody thought the Giants would pull it out, but a few of us die hard believers.

Never under estimate the power of us underdogs. We will always come out on top in the end!!!

I don't exactly share your enthusiasm for the Giants winning, but they deserved that win.

I don't know what was up with the Patriots last night...but their offense was just completely off. Tom Brady being sacked 5 times?!

I might just be being biased but it seemed like some of those calls were a little in favor of the Giants. And shame on Bellicheck's part for not challenging some.

And he must be kicking himself today for not taking the field goal at that 4th down when they ran it instead.

It kills me to say congrats to a Manning (being a New Englander...a Manning is just as hated as a Jeter or A-Rod...) but I'm happier Eli won more than Peyton. (Although I LOVE Peyton's commercials...)

Pats had a chance to come back (and what a comeback that would have been) Moss had caught that play after Brady threw the 72(?) yard pass...

Last night just was not the same team that went undefeated this whole season. Not really sure where that team was, but it would have been nice to have them there last night....

(And I'm not even a huge football fan...)

Kudos for the Giants for playing a well played game. They played like a team, both offensively and defensively.

It was an upset. One quiet ride home...

The food was good at least... Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I'm just getting back to you, it's been a crazy week at work.

I've always liked Payton, but thought Eli was riding on his coat tails. He really hadn't proved himself in the past seasons. He just didn't have the finess Payton has in the pocket. On Sunday, I think he finally came into his own.

I agree the Patriots really didn't show up. I've never really been a fan, but they definately were not the team they had been all year. I have to admit I am impressed with their record. I don't know if they thought they had a shoe-in and the Giants surprised them or the Giants just really stepped up and out played them.

Anyway, it was finally a great Super Bowl game with no one team running away with the game. It was actually fun to watch up to the last second.

Now I have to change my focus to soccer, which I've just started getting into. Basketball isn't really my thing unless I'm actually at the game. I love spending an afternoon or evening at the ballpark, but watching a game on TV doesn't really do it for me unless it's a really close game.

Better go. Have a great weekend!

I'm still on the fence about soccer. I love the game, but it's just getting around to sitting down and watching one I can't seem to do. I've gone to a few New England Revolution games. Just can't seem to get myself into it.

I used to be a huge basketball fan. I went to every Celtics home game last season. I'd watch the games at night, then re-watch them the next day to catch anything I had missed. Then Paul Pierce went all "baby" and complained about the team and traded half the team for two players. I wasn't very happy (I'm still getting over the sting of Delonte West being traded for Ray Allen. I loved West because he played the exact same way I played. Hurt to see him go.) And now...basketball just hasn't been the same for me...

But...Spring training is starting...the Sox are coming back...and I'm wicked excited. So looking forward to this season.

Baseball is really the only sport I'll set aside my time to make sure I watch the game. (Don't even get me started on going to Fenway to watch the games...because that's just on a whole other level of excitement).

Hopefully the Sox won't kill us like the Patriots did. As long as Lowell plays another season like he did last season..I think we'll be all set.

((I totally just strayed from the topic of football and went every other which way...oops))

No big deal on straying from the topic. By the end of the day I'm a bit ADD myself.

I've gotten into soccer because my 11 year old daughter plays year round. She's playing indoor right now which is fast and really fun. I started watching pro about a year ago. I really like watching the interntional teams. They are much more physical than the teams here in the states.

She also golfs. She has since she picked up a club in the front yard when my husband was chipping balls at 2 years old. He cut down a couple of his old clubs to fit her and she hasn't stopped.

Needless to say, I spend most of my time at the soccer field or on the golf course as her caddy. That's when were not at the driving range.

Like I said, I like baseball, but prefer to watch it at the ballpark. We have the Indians and the Reds here in Ohio but I can't say I have one teqm I truely root for. I prefer the Indians to the Reds, the Mets to the Yankees and anybody before the Braves. I always root for the Red Sox and the Cubs.

I played softball as a kid and in junior high, but was never all that great. I was catcher most of the time. It was fun and I loved taking them out at home plate.

Never kept up with it and probably couldn't hit the ball if my life depended on it.

I definetly think soccer games and teams are much more better over in Europe. It's so much more accepted there as a sport than it is here. I would love to catch a game over there. The energy would just make the game that much more exciting.

I've never been able to get into golf. I mean, I've done mini golf, but I've never gotten into the actual golf. My brothers love it. And I just, I dunno, can't get into it.

It might be because I worked functions that were partly on a golf course and maybe I just associate golfing with that place (and yes, I am very happy I am no longer working there...) so I might just have some resentment towards golf.

I should really try it though...

That's just too cute about your daughter and golf. Smile

I will take ANY team over the Yankees. ANY. I will give my credits to Jeter, because he is one heck of a baseball player, but...well, he's a Yankee..

I played baseball for a while, then switched over to softball. I loved it. I quit because it was getting too competitive..and I'm probably the least competitive person I know. I'm trying to get back into it...got tryouts for a 21+ league coming up in March.

I played catcher myself as well. I loved taking people out at home too. It was so fun letting them crash into me. I definetly miss the sport. I'm very happy spring training is starting.
